About the class

You are the most interesting learner you will ever study.

Most courses about learning theory ask you to learn about learners. This one asks you to become the case. You will surface your own beliefs about knowing, map the network that shapes what you find credible, and test whether you really teach around the whole of Kolb's cycle or just camp in your favourite quadrant.

Then you will go somewhere outside your own discipline — an interprofessional experience, a cross-sector workshop, whatever genuinely stretches you — and come back with something you did not have before.

The course ends with a self-directed Learning Journey: a project chosen by you, pursued by you, and reflected on with the frameworks we have built together.

How it runs

The shape of the semester.

Learning objectives

What you will be able to do.

By the end of the term, you should be able to do each of these in your own setting.

    About the instructor

    Dr. Robert Hausmann

Educator. Facilitator. Pilot. Observer of human systems. Robert is a professor in the University of Houston EdD Professional Leadership program and an international leadership consultant. His work sits at the intersection of leadership development, organizational learning, and making sense when the stakes are high.

He founded the Open Sky Leadership Institute. The belief that runs through this class is simple: where we gather shapes what we are open to seeing. Different places reveal different possibilities. This course is one of those gatherings.
